Study of agricultural development with irrigation in the Olomán Valley.
This project is designed to provide irrigation to an area of 3800 hectares for the benefit of some 1000 small and medium farmers, enabling them to diversify from corn monocrop with the introduction of higher value crops destined to the local, regional and international markets. It considers the irrigation of 3000 hectares with waters from the river Cuyamapa through a bypass. The study includes the final engineering designs for the works construction and bid documentation, making emphasis on the study of natural resources, having carried out hydrogeological prospecting works and edaphology works to determine the suitability of the land for irrigation, works of aerophotogrammetric restitution, topography, geology and geotechnics, as well as a survey carried out among small and medium producers. All aspects of the project were discussed with its future users through participatory workshops.
