Name: Study for the Comprehensive Utilization of the Negro River. Stages I and II
Brief description:
Stage I: Inventory-level study to establish possible alternative uses for the Negro River (1,000 m³/s), from the confluence of the Limay and Neuquén rivers to its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean (650 km long). The following work was carried out: a) Collection and analysis of information; b) Population determination; c) Study of resources; d) Calculation of design flows for drinking water and wastewater disposal; e) Environmental studies; f) Soil studies; g) Agroeconomic studies.
Stage II: Pre-feasibility studies for an area of approximately 100,000 ha. Water supply to populations and industries. Irrigation, drainage, and land reclamation development. Fruit and vegetable production. Land linkages and transportation. Fruit and vegetable production. Hydroelectric production. River navigation and transport. Flood control, erosion, riverbank and alluvium protection. Ecological and natural resource preservation. Tourism and recreation.
