Update of the hydrological and hydraulic studies of El Potrero Creek in Portezuelo Bay, from the Laguna del Sauce Control Works to its mouth at the site of the future port works for the Punta del Este Marina. The studies determined a baseline for El Potrero Creek without any works and the influence of the proposed marina works on its operation, analyzing alternative works to mitigate the effects of flooding on neighboring properties. The selected alternative was developed at the Final Project level, contemplating the construction of 1,700 m of riparian barriers with mattresses.

The port works for the Punta del Este Marina near El Potrero Creek, between Punta Ballena and Punta Rasa, in Uruguay, were developed by Latinoconsult in 1990. The layout modifications were carried out, for reasons beyond the control of Chihuahua Club S.A., which necessitated amending the original project. These significant changes had to be evaluated; therefore, a series of layout alternatives were analyzed to achieve acceptable internal unrest within the port area and develop the selected layout at the Final Project Level. This included the engineering of the riverbank defenses consisting of 2,530 m of sheet piling and 500 m of breakwaters.

The Work consists of: Home collector networks and Main collectors: 131,265 m of PVC-RCPD pipes of 160, 200, 315, 355, 400, 500 and 630 mm will be laid; Elevating station for sewage liquids and drive pipe. The EELC is a cylindrical tank of ø 6 m and 10 m deep; 3 electric pumps of 30 kW each, ductile iron pipe that connects to a manifold, valves, gate and bars.

Sewage treatment plant: with pretreatment to reduce solids in suspension, consisting of an arrival chamber, a channel of approx., bars to stop coarse material, a sand trap to retain inorganic solids, a degreaser, a spillway, a Parshall gutter and a distribution chamber for flows to lagoons.

Stabilization ponds: anaerobic, facultative, maturation ponds.

Disposal of treated liquids in the receiving body: the final discharge of the treated effluent will serve to irrigate inedible forest species located on the property, if there are surpluses to a drainage channel that carries the water to the Salado River.
